Letter from Brian Conover: SOS - Rally in Albany sponsored by the JLC

Dear Coalition Friend:

We know that your time is very important so we would not want to ask too much of you. However, this Wednesday brings a critical event that desperately needs your full support. The Joint Landowner's Coalition of New York is hosting a rally in Albany on Wednesday, June 9th. Buses will be leaving from various locations throughout the Southerntier and upstate NY. If we do not have a tremendous showing of support for this rally, this very well may be the end of our gas drilling prospects for many years to come.

We are inching ever so close to the completion of the SGEIS by the DEC making victory for our cause appear within sight. At the same time however, certain state politicians are proposing legislation that would defeat any opportunity for Marcellus and Utica shale gas development for years to come. One such politician is downstate Assemblyman Steven Englebright who has proposed legislation that will delay natural gas development in New York for the next 2 to 3 years. And don't think for one minute that obstructionist politicians are ready to allow drilling to begin in 3 years. This will be and endless chain of delays that will forever obstruct the chance upstate has to rebuild itself as a community.

This rally is so important because it is the last day our state representatives will be in Albany before the fall election season. If you want a profitable gas lease in the foreseeable future, you are going to have to fight for it and this rally is our last big chance to fight. Don't expect others to go for you, YOUR voice must be heard now or black shale gas development in NY will be blockaded for years to come.

Registration for the Rally is easy. Simply sign up on the JLC website (www.jlcny.org). Although there are buses leaving from more convenient locations for some in our coalition range, our coalition goal is to fill the Norwich bus with 50 people. To register directly for the Norwich bus, call Steve Gage today at (607).859.2395 or email him directly at gageboys@yahoo.com When you register, for any departure location, departure and arrival times will then be given to you.

As an added bonus, there will be an informal coalition meeting on the Norwich bus. This will involve a special Q&A time with our new committee as well as an opportunity for to view our coalition maps.

Please, do not think that others will go so that you won't need to. That's what happened at last Fall's rally when only 13 registered for the Norwich bus. We need you to sign up today and be a part of this critical event. It is truly "speak now or forever hold your lease!"

Counting on you,

Brian Conover

There are 194,500 acres represented in the Coalition as of 8/18/2010. The latest gas offers in New York State are $3000/acre with 20% royalties.
